Thirteen Days in Hell
« The Leaders Training School » is the largest of its kind in Japan. It is both a caricature and a mirror of a Japanese economy in the throes of its worst financial crisis in over thirty years.
The goal is to train Japanese managers of industry to become loyal soldiers in service to their companies. Every two weeks, 200 executives learn to ‘read, write, speak, think and act’ in
classes resembling army boot camp. As in the army, the schedule, like the discipline, is strict. After thirteen days of intense exercises in ‘hell’, as few as 10% of the students enrolled receive
their diploma. Every year, thousands of industry managers are sent by their hierarchy to the « Leaders Training School » to ‘correct their errors’. During the thirteen day course they will learn to toe the line. © STEPHANE REMAEL
