Summer in the port of Durres
During the time of Evner Hotza, Durres was the main tourist resort for the Albanians. After
the opening of the borders the past 10-15 years the town has been developed and
continues to attract a big number of tourists.
The once wooden shacks that people used for accommodation was replaced by hotels
and luxurious resorts. The ideal destination for summer holidays in the Adriatic sea turned
the Durres beach into a concrete chaos.
Most of the tourists that visit Durres come from Kosovo to spent their summer holidays by
the sea. Half hour from Tirana, the capital, the beach is usually full of Albanians not only in
weekends but also during working days of the week.
The constant development of the area seems to have no end as by the end of the year
the construction of the highway that connects Dures with Kosovo will be completed and
will make access easier and quicker.
The number of tourists visiting for their summer vacation is expected to rise considerably
and along with it the infrastructure. © ENRI CANAJ
