Vauban, a city without cars
Not a road for cars, only cycling paths; neither a garage nor a car park. But for Vauban - 5,500 inhabitants in the suburb of Freiburg (Germany) - the lack of car parking is not a problem because there are no cars on the road. In fact Vauban is such a good example of an ecological district made to suit people, that the Times magazine has nominated its citizens as “ Heroes of the Environment 2009”. © ALESSANDRO GRASSANI
